Kathmandu: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed its support for the Ministry of Finance's decision to establish a high-level Economic Reform Commission.

In a press statement issued today, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal praised the move, stating that it aligns with the Federation's longstanding request for such a commission to coordinate efforts for economic reforms. "We appreciate the government's decision to prioritize our proposal," said Dhakal.

The statement highlighted that FNCCI, which represents Nepal's private sector, had previously submitted a proposal to form this high-level commission. The Federation emphasized the need for this body to address the lack of coordination among economic sectors and the limited access of the private sector to policymaking processes. The commission is seen as essential for developing immediate and long-term plans to revitalize the national economy and achieve sustainable economic growth.

FNCCI also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel for including the formation of the commission in the Ministry's 100-day action plan. The Federation has proposed a framework for the commission to operate efficiently and effectively.
